~ Moccasin Point Marina, California
Escape the daily hustle and bustle and enjoy the serenity of Don Pedro Lake, located in the foothills of California's beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains. Reconnect with family and friends and recharge your batteries while enjoying the lake's 160-miles of shoreline.
Created in 1971, Don Pedro Lake is in a canyon carved by the Tuolumne River over a million years ago. Rolling hills and magnificent oak and pine trees surround this picturesque beauty where you can spend your days leisurely enjoying the scenery, splashing near a refreshing waterfall, or exploring the Sierra Nevadas.
The lake's recreation areas are 900-1000 feet in elevation, providing an oak woodland landscape that supports a wide variety of wildlife in the ecosystem. The Sierra foothills typical wildlife includes mule deer, raccoons, squirrels, coyote, fox, Golden and Bald Eagles and ravens.
Lake Don Pedro is a perfect location for those who enjoy outdoor activities. The average summer water temperature nears 80 degrees while the air temperatures are in the high 90s. Gentle afternoon breezes are conducive to enjoying houseboating, skiing, sailing and fishing. Several tributaries drain directly into Lake Don Pedro allowing the water levels to remain high and water temperatures ideal.

The Lake itself supports Bass, Salmon, Rainbow and Brown Trout, Catfish, Crappie and Bluegill fish. In the winter, temperatures are relatively mild, sometimes bringing a light frost.
The lake is one of the finest bass fishing waters in the Northern California area; in fact, during Spring, Lake Don Pedro consistently delivers some of the largest Bass in Northern California. It's stocked with kokanee salmon and rainbow trout, as well as an abundance of crappie, catfish and bluegill. The lake hosts many major professional and club bass tournaments each year. If you don't want to go out on the lake to fish, try fishing along the shore from the park's day-use area near the launch ramp.
